• It’s definitely waterproof — I’ve used this tent twice. The first time the weather was beautiful, and it was extremely cool when you open the windows. It got a bit cold during the night. The second time was at the lakes, and it rained nonstop, it handled the wind well and didn’t let any water in at all, just make sure your rain cover isn’t touching the actual tent, and it should be fine.
  It won’t do you much good outside of late spring/ summer, but if you’re on a family trip over the warmer months, it’s the perfect tent. There’s plenty of space inside for a double air bed and some chairs. If you’re all using sleeping mats, you might get 8 in, but it would be tight. I’d also get a warmer sleeping bag in case it does get a bit chilly during the night and if it’s too warm, use it as a blanket.
  Assembly is easy enough, although extremely awkward to do alone as it needs balancing, and you have to be careful otherwise you’ll bend the poles. If there are two of you, you should have it up in about 25 minutes.

• Absolutely worth it — I love this tarp. It’s big, brilliant value, and the included lines and pegs are actually pretty good (for that money I’d expected to end up binning them, to be honest). To call it a tarp sells it short; it’s not a rough woven plastic sheet, it’s a tough water-resistant sheet. Seams are tough, maybe a little light through the stitching under tension, but nothing too bad.
  The only downside is the brass eyelets are pretty shonky. Fine for most things, but very careful using them on poles where they’d fit snugly over the end. 3 fell off the first time I used it, although I was able to bodge them back on.
