Arrest made in deadly shooting at Gilroy councilmember’s home

An arrest has been made in connection to a shooting that took place early Saturday morning at the home of a Gilroy city councilmember.The Gilroy/Morgan Hill Regional SWAT team served a search warrant on a residence on Church Street in Gilroy on Saturday afternoon.Police said they arrested 19-year-old Benjamin David Calderon in connection to the shooting. Calderon was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on homicide charges.The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday during a party hosted at the home of Gilroy councilmember Rebeca Armendariz.Police said an altercation happened at the party and that at least one person fired a gun. A total of four people were shot.One man died at the scene.The other victims were taken to the hospital, two with life-threatening injuries. An update on their conditions was not released Sunday.
