Start to Finish: 25 minutes

Servings: Makes about 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups blueberries
  • 1 1/2 cups blackberries
  • 3 tbsp. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Preparation

1. In a small saucepan, mash the blueberries, blackberries, and 2 tbsp. brown sugar with a fork or potato masher. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until the mixture begins to thicken, about 10 minutes.

2. In a medium bowl, stir the remaining 1 tbsp. brown sugar with the ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, ground mustard, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir into berry mixture in saucepan and continue to simmer until thickened and glossy, 5 to 10 more minutes.

3. Season with salt and pepper. Use immediately or transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
