Fortnite season 8 key art

Following one of the wildest seasons to date, Fortnite Season 8 takes players even further into the unknown. Here’s everything new in Fortnite Season 8.

Fortnite Season 7 was out of this world… literally. The season featured an ever-changing alien invasion that was quite unpredictable. It also offered a variety of weapons, vehicles, and crossovers.

However, if you thought an invasion was strange, wait until you see what Season 8 has in store. The theme for Fortnite Season 8 is “Cubed” and it focuses on the return of Kevin. Not just one Kevin, but a lot of Kevin’s scattered around the map.

Season 8 not only features the return of one of Fortnite’s most beloved characters. This season brings a slew of new weapons, hostile zombie creatures, and the return of some fan-favorite features.

Fortnite Season 8 New Map

Of course, with every new season comes a new map. Despite the massive Mothership explosion, the map is relatively unscathed. With a couple “new” POIs, players might be a bit underwhelmed. Here are the new POIs:

  • Sludgy Swamp (Formerly Slurpy Swamp)
  • Corny Crops (Formerly Corny Complex)

And that’s it. However, there are various new biomes dotted around the map. As you can see below, these biomes are quite large. They are likely where different Kevin Cubes are placed.

Season 8 New Weapons and Items

While the map doesn’t offer many changes, there are a lot of new weapons and items. These new weapons can be found inside chests, including a new chest variant.

fortnite v17.40 patch notes

The second to last Season 7 update is here, and here are all of the Fortnite v17.40 patch notes.

Fortnite Season 7 has been pretty wild so far. Every content update has rolled out new weapons and map changes. The storyline has been more active than it’s been for a few seasons now.

There seems to be a general census that Season 7 is one of the best seasons of Fortnite. If not the best Season of Chapter 2 so far.

And the latest content update is a pretty big one. The Fortnite v17.40 patch notes include details of Wild Weeks returning, a new Impostor Mode, Coral Castle’s abduction, and more. Here they are!

Coral Castle Abducted – Fortnite Patch Notes

After waiting for the better half of Season 7, Coral Castle has finally been abducted. One of the most underwhelming POIs is being changed for the first time since its creation.

This is a major map change similar to when Slurpy Swamp was abducted. The main pieces of the POI will be floating in a low gravity zone. Later, the pieces will be transported to the inside of the Mothership.

Impostor LTM – Fortnite Patch Notes

The rumored Impostor Mode has finally arrived with the Fortnite v17.40 patch notes. This is a story-based LTM similar to the Impossible Escape LTM from last season.

This mode is similar to the hit game Among Us where players either play as Agents or Impostors. Agents will complete tasks around the base while Impostors attempt to sabotage their operations.

Sadly, there are not exclusive rewards for winning. However, players can explore a highly detailed and lore-riddled Imaging Order base.

Wild Weeks Return – Fortnite Patch Notes

The end of Season 7 is near, and so Wild Weeks are making a return. Each week, Epic Games will change one of Fortnite’s core functions. There will also be weekly Legendary quests that go along with these changes.

The Wild Week changes will start on Thursday with the introduction of Sneak Week. Every Epic or greater Pistol and AR, and every Bolt Action Sniper, will be replaced with their suppressed variants. More vendors will also supply Prop Disguises, and the Prop-ifier will drop more often from chests.

New Burst Pulse Rifle

A new weapon has been added to the loot pool. The Burst Pulse Rifle can be purchased from the Kymera NPC. This is similar to the Burst AR, but in alien form.

The Burst Pulse Rifle fires two-shot bursts and has a larger clip than the regular Pulse Rifle.

Fortnite v17.40 Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a Preferred Item Slots issue involving double item slot items, such as the Chug Cannon, moving to the incorrect slots when the player picked up a new item.
  • Fixed an issue involving Cosmic Chests being unopenable if a player had left the team during the match.
  • Fixed an issue that caused us to disable Prop Disguise services from vendors. These are now re-enabled.

Patch Notes

fortnite v17.20 patch notes

After almost an entire month without a major content update, here are the Fortnite v17.20 Patch Notes.

It’s been a few weeks since Fortnite v17.10 was released, and that’s because of Epic Games’ summer break. Now that the employees are back in the office, players are being given the second major content update of Fortnite Season 7.

However, this patch is a little more underwhelming than expected. The Fortnite v17.20 Patch Notes include a few new skins, quality of life improvements, and a new gravity gun. While players expected there to be huge map changes and more alien tech, it seems this update is on the lighter side in terms of content.

Grabitron Gravity Gun

At the start of the season, a gun that allows players to pick up and toss large objects was teased. Players had given this gun the name “Cowinator”, but now it has an official name. The Grabitron is a new alien tech weapon added during the Fortnite v17.20 patch.

Players can expect to see this new gun in-game either this week or next. As shown in the season trailer, players will be able to use the gun to pick up rocks, vehicles, and other items on the map. These items can then be hurled at opposing players to deal a considerable amount of damage.

Reactive Wrap Skins

A new set of customizable skins allows players to equip wraps that change the style of the skin. There are four different character models in the set, and each has a different style of clothes. However, these skins are the first of their kind.

As seen in the Tweet from HYPEX below, players can customize the skin with different wraps. Wraps are usually used on weapons and vehicles, and now they can be used on certain skins. Once equipped, the pattern on the skin’s clothing will change to the style of the wrap.

Preferred Loadout Settings

As promised by Epic Games earlier this month, a new preferred loadout setting has been added to Fortnite v17.20. This new setting allows players to customize what typed of items go in which inventory slot. Instead of swapping weapons and meds on the go, they will go into the specified slots automatically.
