Glenn Greenwald notes that even the New York Times reported the FBI had an informant at the Capitol January 6

“Sorry crazies,” tweeted January 6 Select Committee member Rep. Adam Kinzinger, forwarding a statement issued by the committee after Sen. Ted Cruz asked the FBI’s Jill Sanborn about Ray Epps, who is clearly on video inciting people to storm the Capitol building but isn’t being held in jail like people charged with trespassing. According to the committee, they interviewed Epps and he assured them he wasn’t working in conjunction with any law enforcement agency.

The Committee has interviewed Epps. Epps informed us that he was not employed by, working with, or acting at the direction of any law enforcement agency on Jan 5th or 6th or at any other time, & that he has never been an informant for the FBI or any other law enforcement agency.

The whole thing still smells fishy to a lot of people. Here’s RealClearInvestigations’ Mark Hemingway:

The J6 committee — filled entirely with members picked by one political party — releases a vague statement that raises a ton of questions following years demonstrable FBI malfeasance, and instead of asking the necessary follow-ups, Politico declares things “debunked.” https://t.co/tmZJ1hpZFa

NB: Politico also declared the Hunter Biden laptop story “Russian disinformation” hours after the @nypost first reported on it. How’d that work out?

Maybe Epps wasn’t an informant and got lucky he wasn’t charged for incitement. But c’mon — suspicion is warranted. https://t.co/ihYcOWSmMr

Glenn Greenwald posted a thread on Epps back in October and notes that even the New York Times has reported that the FBI had an informant in the crowd — something Sanborn said she couldn’t confirm or deny.

This may be, but then why isn’t Epps among the more than 700 people charged in connection with 1/6 when there are multiple videos showing him doing far more than many if not most than those who have been charged? https://t.co/gL6ZeBhEv1

Also, why doesn’t the @January6thCmte tell us whether FBI had informants and other agents participating in the organizing of 1/6 and in 1/6 itself — as the NYT already confirmed it did — and how many of them there were and what roles they played? Why can’t those be answered? pic.twitter.com/90ued5ONX5

When even the NYT is saying this, there’s only so long that these questions about the FBI can be avoided by the Congressional 1/6 Committee even though they obviously have zero interest in finding out any of this.https://t.co/X9MMQjQ9f5 pic.twitter.com/MzYxKrfopJ

Here’s what a senior FBI official did when these questions were posed to her. She refused to answer a single one, or provide any information about what role FBI informants played in 1/6 or how many were involved. I know many trust FBI but look at this: https://t.co/ZfknEuHqhw

This is proof?

No, it’s:

– hearsay
– from an unnamed spokesperson
– who has partisan motives
– about an interview
– that was not recorded
– or sworn
– or corroborated
– of Epps denying his secret involvement
– in crimes

Rock solid!

The question is why they’re trying so hard.

Nobody can take this committee at its word. If this is the case… arrest this man and cage him with others or question him in an open hearing. They won’t, so the committee’s statement is a lie.

— AZchilly (@AZchilly) January 11, 2022

Traveling across state lines to incite a riot is a federal felony. I agree….Why wasn’t he arrested??

— Rad Doc (@rbworkman) January 11, 2022

For 12 months they’ve been screaming at the top of their lungs about how the riot was a plotted and planned insurrection, yet they have zero interest in the one and only guy caught on video plotting and planning. Nothing suspicious about that.

— Dick Nolte (@arroz_roz) January 11, 2022

Hey Glenn, how exactly did this guy get in front of the committee without some special connections? Hundreds of people are rotting away in jail not even charged yet and here’s a guy all over tape inciting an insurrection and the Democrats roll out the red carpet 🤔

— The Narrator (@tbdtbdtbd777) January 11, 2022

Exactly … something about him was interesting enough for the select committee to interview him and no one else.

What’s not stated is whether Epps was involved, employed or working in tandem with any NON-law enforcement federal agencies. You know, like intelligence or surveillance agencies. Or any of the other alphabet soup 3-letter agencies.
