Jamie Pickett worked past mental hurdle to get first UFC win

LAS VEGAS – Jamie Pickett beat Laureano Staropoli with a unanimous decision Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 196 in Las Vegas.

“My mindset (was different). Seeing a sports psychologist (for this camp) and worried about the cameras and stuff (for my last fight) made me hold back on a lot of things I usually would do. … Now I don’t even worry about it. I was comfortable in there. You’ll see more out of me now. I don’t worry about it now.”

“Whenever my coach tells me I should go back (is when I’ll go back). Right now, I just want to go see my daughter.”
