As Twitchy reported earlier, the Washington Free Beacon actually went out and collected some of those “safe smoking kits” that the White House and several fact-checkers assured us did not contain crack pipes and found out that they indeed contained crack pipes. The Free Beacon’s tweet was even retweeted by the Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler, who’d previously written for his paper an analysis entitled, “Viral article that unleased ‘crack pipe’ firestorm relied on assumptions.” No one was expecting an apology from Kessler, but Media Matters for America CEO Angelo Carusone wants more than an apology — he wants Kessler terminated for retweeting a “partisan” source like the Free Beacon.

1/ This man runs the Washington Post’s fact checking vertical. And he is promoting the Free Beacon as if they were anything other than a discredited partisan operation. You wanna talk about safe smoking kits? Fine. The Free Beacon should *never* be a source. It’s disgraceful.

2/ Honestly, this should be a termination worthy event for anyone in the job that Glenn holds. But alas. He won’t even be reprimanded.

He should know better. Either he doesn’t know or he doesn’t care how this enables rw lies. Either way it means he isn’t fit for the job.

Somebody’s angry.

Found a Biden crack kit user!

— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 12, 2022

Media Matters wants the Washington Post to fire Glenn Kessler for posting an accurate fact check.

— A N (@MaxNordau) May 12, 2022

🤣🤣🤣Excuse me, but did you, the CEO of @MMFA just refer to another publication as a discredited partisan operation?

Have to admit, you have a great sense of humor!

— BayAreaFrau (@bayareahausfrau) May 12, 2022

They literally went and got the kits, and the kits contain crack pipes.

— J.G. Petruna (@jgpetruna) May 12, 2022

I am sorry the safe smoking kits had crack pipes in it Angelo.

— Chris in VanBeeCee (@Chris_in_VanBC) May 12, 2022

I noticed you didn’t debunk or disprove any of the claim

— John Blutarsky’s Whiskey Bottle (@Took_The_Bar) May 12, 2022

Are you upset that he’s using The Free Beacon as a source or are you mad he’s right that the kits do, in fact, contain crack pipes and the government lied?

Because you should be more mad at the latter.

— Mr. Mimo Man (@MrMimoMan) May 12, 2022

Sorry this happened to you, Ang. Stay strong, tiger!!

— They Call Me Mr. Class (@leo_lyons) May 12, 2022

Are you going to be okay?

— Evan (@EvanRVice) May 12, 2022

I’d call you a hack… but you’re with MMFA. Everybody already knows you’re a hack.

— Will Collier (@willcollier) May 12, 2022

You work for Media Matters, Angelo.

— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) May 12, 2022

It’s accurate so I can see why you’d be pissed about accurate reporting.

— J Kerr (@Ericb1980) May 12, 2022

You have a counter point? Let’s hear it then. ‘Cause this ain’t one.

— Markus T James (@MarkusTheJames) May 12, 2022

So he doesn’t address at all the fact that the kits contain crack pipes, only that Kessler retweeted the Free Beacon. Someone didn’t get their crack pipe.

It sure seems like Glenn Kessler’s just going to pretend he didn’t slime the Free Beacon’s accurate reporting on Biden crack pipes
