The Vanderbilt Commodores are welcoming the challenge from the East Carolina Pirates in the 2021 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

The Vanderbilt Commodores and the East Carolina Pirates will get the next round of the 2021 NCAA Baseball Tournament started up with the Nashville Super Regional. Vandy and ECU each handled their regionals and are now ready to face each other.

Vanderbilt’s regular-season run was impressive as the Commodores showed they are one of the best teams in the country by handling just about everything the Southeastern Conference could throw at them. Vandy has a 43-15 overall record and went 19-10 in SEC play.

The Commodores are ready for the challenge ECU brings them.

The Pirates may not play in one of the toughest conferences out there, but ECU didn’t have any issue handling almost every foe it faced with ease. Like Vanderbilt, ECU arrives in Nashville boasting a 43-15 overall record, but the Pirates went 20-8 against their conference opponents.

The AAC doesn’t have the same sort of reputation that the SEC does when it comes to NCAA baseball, but it’s still an accomplishment to get through conference play with that sort of record.

In the Nashville Regional, Vandy was able to sweep through its opponents. The Commodores won the three games by a combined score of 28-14, but that run differential came primarily due to one blowout win. With the Greenville Regional, the Pirates also swept through and won in three games, but all three were close contests. ECU played in three games that were back-and-forth affairs, with the Pirates ultimately winning out, beating Norfolk State 8-5, Charlotte 7-5, and Maryland 9-6.
