The contract has an average value of $8.214 million annually and includes the following breakdown: $4.0M in 2021-22, $6.5M in 2022-23, $10.5M in 2023-24, $10.5M in 2024-25, $10.5M in 2025-26, $8.5 in 2026-27 and $7.0M in 2027-28.

Tkachuk, 22, appeared in each of the Senators’ 56 regular-season games in 2020-21 and led the team in scoring with 36 points (17 goals, 19 assists) while accruing a team-high 69 penalty minutes. The campaign marked the second consecutive in which he has led the team in points.

“We’re thrilled to come to a long-term agreement with Brady,” said Senators owner and governor Eugene Melnyk. “He’s a valuable member of our leadership group, is universally respected by his teammates and a player we’re certain will have a significant impact on our success in the seasons ahead.”

“This is an exciting day for the Ottawa Senators,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “Brady possesses a very dynamic skill set and is a prototypical power forward in today’s NHL. He scores goals, he plays physical and exemplifies what it means to be a pro for all players in our organization.”

A St. Louis native, Tkachuk will enter the 2021-22 season having skated in 194 consecutive contests for the Senators (which ranks 10th in franchise history) and 198 games for his NHL career over which he has recorded 125 points (60 goals, 65 assists) and 250 penalty minutes. A 2019-20 NHL All-Star, Tkachuk is one of only 29 all-time Senators with 60 goals and one of only 28 with 250 penalty minutes.

Internationally, Tkachuk captained Team U.S.A to a gold medal at the 2017 IIHF U-18 World Junior Championship and helped the Americans to a bronze medal at the 2018 IIHF WJC by ranking third in team scoring with nine points (three goals, six assists) over seven games in Buffalo, N.Y.
