Heaven Fitch made history last week. The high schooler won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s individual wrestling state championship (106 lb category). She is the first girl to ever win a state championship.
ABC 7 reported that Fitch “dominated” a field of boys on route to the championship match versus Luke Wilson. Fitch’s championship clinching victory over Wilson can be seen below:
Fitch told WGHP that she “kind of dominated the [championship] match, if I’m being honest.”
The Uwharrie Charter Academy junior ended her season with a 54-4 record. She also won the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award in the 1A classification. In 2019 she placed fourth in the state championship.
This year part of Fitch’s story will be told by the WWE Network. Last month the pro wrestling powerhouse released a trailer for an upcoming documentary titled Heaven.
Heaven, which is narrated by WWE superstar Beth Phoenix, will premiere on the free version of the WWE Network on March 7.
