As more details and questions surrounding the elementary school shooting that took place earlier this week arise, the Texas Department of Public Safety shares a more detailed timeline line explaining how things unfolded.

The timeline covers the moment the gunman arrived at the school, what occurred inside the school after his arrival, the multiple phone calls made by students, when the suspect was killed by officers, and when children were moved outside of the school.

According to the New York Times, the timeline provided by Steven McCraw, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, shows video evidence revealing that the door that the gunman entered through was propped open by a teacher at 11:27 and that the gunman’s vehicle crashed near the school one minute later. Two men that were at the funeral home across the street encountered the gunman after the crash, the gunman fired at them but missed.

The gunman was on the school’s premises by 11:31 and began to fire shots. He entered the school two minutes later at 11:33. Police entered the school at 11:35. As shots are constantly going off, there were at least six phones that were made during the incident, according to the department’s timeline.

The suspect was reportedly killed by officers at 12:50, and officers could be heard moving children out of the classroom one minute later at 12:51.

Check out the full detailed timeline below:

McCraw acknowledged that officers could have entered the classroom sooner and said in a press conference,

“From the benefit of hindsight, where I’m sitting now, of course, it was not the right decision. It was the wrong decision, period. There’s no excuse for that.”

Based on the timeline provided the whole incident unfolded for an estimated 84 minutes, which is almost an hour and a half.

As previously reported, the person accused of carrying out the mass shooting is 18-year-old Salvador Ramos. Prior to arriving at the school and killing 19 students and two teachers, Ramos shot his grandmother at her home.
