The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) is kicking off the 2022 season with a packed Week 1 schedule. After two months of downtime, the Chinese teams will restart the action earlier than most professional leagues. To start off the year in full force, we’re going to be analyzing the upcoming Match of the Week between WBG and BLG!

Of course, you will also find all the best LoL bets for this series. That being said, let’s jump right into it!

Bilibili LPL 2022

The king is back!

What happened to BLG and WBG in the off-season?

Weibo Gaming is one of the two new organizations that will participate in the 2022 LPL season. They have replaced Suning, the 2020 Worlds’ runner-ups, who had to sell the spot due to the financial struggles during the pandemic.

Despite the rebranding, WBG retained most of Suning’s players, only selling the top laner Bin to Royal Never Give Up while retaining SwordArt from TSM. Bin is considered one of the best players in his role, so his departure has been a huge loss for the organization. His substitute, however, is definitely not any worse: former IG top laner and World Champion TheShy will take his place in the team.

On the other hand, BiliBili Gaming got one of the most exciting rosters moves in the world: superstar ADC Uzi returns to the LPL as the starting player on BLG. Not only him but the organization rebuilding the lineup from the ground up, including former FPX support Crisp and former Team WE’s top laner Breathe. BLG put together a very competitive roster, as they’re looking to claim the number 1 spot of the LPL.

BLG vs WBG – LPL Week 1 Match Analysis

Now that we’ve got the roster moves out of the way, let’s see how the two teams will likely perform in Week 1 of the LPL 2022 Spring Split. It’s important to remember that teams didn’t have much preparation prior to the beginning of the tournament, especially TheShy, who had to finish a self-quarantine process upon arriving in China.

I are not certain if Weibo’s roster put enough practice t0 play around TheShy. Earlier, WBG played mid-bot centric in Demacia cup, will TheShy’s arrival change the playstyle of the team. I think not. BiliBili on the other hand, recently played a more scaling bot centric composition. They will likely wait for Uzi’s item completions, but close out once win condition is achieved.  If BLG is ahead in bot, expect a quick closeout to the match.

Based on what we know about both teams, the following selections and odds look lucrative.

  • Total Kills – Over 26.5 (2.15x)
  • First Blood – WBG (2.03x)
  • First Tower – BLG (1.74x)
  • Map Duration – Over 31.5 (1.87x)
  • BLG Total kills – Over 14.5 (1.99x)
  • Both teams to slay a dragon – YES (1.24x)
  • First Herald – WBG (1.93x)
