In the second at-bat of the game, Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo crushed a home run into the bleacher section of Yankee Stadium.

The Boston Red Sox have had a great time in making the lives of New York Yankees miserable in their first series of the 2021 season. On Sunday, the Red Sox had the chance to sweep their hated division rivals, and outfielder Alex Verdugo wasted little time in helping the team accomplish that goal.

Verdugo stepped towards home plate as the second batter of the game, and he smashed a 446-foot home run to the right field bleacher section of Yankee Stadium off pitcher Domingo German to give the Red Sox an early 1-0 lead.

On just the fifth pitch of the game, Verdugo helped give the Red Sox an early cushion. But as it turns out, that was not enough. In the bottom of the first, the Yankees took a 2-1 lead thanks to a two-run double by catcher Gary Sanchez.

In the previous two games of the series, Verdugo went recorded three hits and accounted for two runs scored in eight at-bats.

While Boston’s lead was quickly nullified, Verdugo’s home run is far from forgotten, considering he absolutely destroyed it.
