Fortnite Season 8 introduces another customizable character, and it functions similar to Kymera. Here’s how to get Rainbow Ink to customize the Toona Fish skin.

Fortnite has made a habit of introducing highly customizable skins. The Soccer, Superhero, and Banner Brigade skins allow players to create highly customizable characters. However, these skins are all purchased from the Item Shop.

There are some exclusive skins that are only obtained through the Battle Pass. These skins include Maya, Kymera, and now Toona Fish. Yet, Fortnite doesn’t give players all of the customization options for these skins upfront.

Instead, players have to earn these customization options before the season ends. In the case of Maya, players had to solidify their character before the season’s end. For Kymera, players just had to earn enough credits to purchase the customizations before Season 7 ended.

Toona Fish is the cartoon version of Fishstick. He is also the second Fortnite mascot to be turned into a cartoon. Unlike Toon Meowscles, Toona Fish doesn’t have to stay black and white. Players can unlock different colors for him to wear.

Players unlock these different colors by collecting Rainbow Ink. Rainbow Ink is the Season 8 equivalent of Alien Artifacts. Once players collect enough Rainbow Ink, they can purchase different colors for Toona Fish.

It may be disappointing to some, but Cosmic Chests have made a return this season. Players will need to open Cosmic Chests in Fortnite to earn Rainbow Ink. You can earn a maximum of 25 Rainbow Ink per week maxing out at 250 Rainbow Ink.

Toona Fish color customizations

As well, players can find Color Bottles around the map to unlock colors to use on Toona Fish. Players can use these to color the Toona Fish skin however they want. Players can use the Rainbow Ink to buy premade color outfits.

Carnage is the newest licensed character to join Fortnite’s roster. Here is how to get the Carnage skin in Fortnite Season 8.

Fortnite Season 8 is off to a creepy and mysterious start. So what better Marvel character to add this season than the sadistic symbiote, Carnage. Of course, it’s going to take a bit of work to unlock him.

Season 8’s battle pass is a little light on licensed characters, but that’s a refreshing change of pace. Fortnite Season 7 had two licensed characters (Rick Sanchez and Superman) along with a slew of crossovers throughout the season.

There’s no doubt that Fortnite Season 8 will be riddled with crossover characters over the course of the next few months. However, the Carnage skin is actually pretty cool. It’s similar to the Marvel Venom skin introduced a few seasons back, and there’s even a Mythic weapon to go along with it.

Unlock Carnage in Fortnite Season 8

Carnage is only available to those who buy the Fortnite Season 8 battle pass. This season’s pass once again uses the Battle Stars system. This allows players some freedom to choose which items they want to unlock first.

Sadly, with Carnage being the “level 100” skin, it will still take some time to unlock. The Fortnite Carnage skin is on page 10 of the Season 8 Battle Pass. This means players will have to reach level 90 or unlock 90 rewards to reach this page.

Even after players reach this criterion, they will need to earn 9 Battle Stars which equates to 2 levels. Players can also unlock the Carnage pickaxe, back bling, and glider. As well, Carnage has additional styles that can be unlocked once the Battle Pass is complete.

In addition to Carnage, there will likely be many more crossovers this season. With Season 8 lasting until December 5th, there’s plenty of time to see more licensed characters added.

fortnite season 8 battle pass trailer

For those new to Fortnite, you may not be familiar with Season 8’s Battle Star system. Here’s how players can earn and use Fortnite Season 8 Battle Stars to unlock skins.

During traditional seasons of Fortnite, players would complete challenges and earn XP to climb Battle Pass tiers. Tiers would correlate with the player’s level, and each tier has specific rewards. However, the Battle Star system makes a drastic change to how players earn seasonal items.

The Fortnite Season 8 Battle Stars are earned by leveling and spent on Battle Pass items. They give players a bit of freedom to choose which items they want to unlock. Players can’t buy the level 100 skin right from the start, but they can choose the order in which they get there.

Understanding Battle Star and the Battle Pass

The Season 8 Battle Pass isn’t a tier list. Instead, it’s more like a catalog of items players can choose from. They will have to unlock a certain number of items or reach a certain level before they can move to different tiers of the catalog. But they are still able to choose how they get to that next tier.

The easiest way to get to the next tier is by purchasing the required number of items using Battle Stars. These are a form of currency that a player earns every time they level up. With each level, a player will earn five Battle Stars. They can then use these stars to purchase any of the Battle Pass cosmetics available to them.

Players can still purchase levels using V-Bucks, and in return, they will be rewarded with five Battle Stars for every level they purchase. Each level costs 150 V-Bucks. This won’t auto-unlock items like in the past, but will reward players with Battle Stars to spend.

With all of the great cosmetic items in Fortnite Season 8’s Battle Pass, it’s hard to choose what to buy first. Do you save up your stars until you reach a certain level, or do you spend them as you earn them? There’s plenty of time to earn enough stars to buy every item in the Battle Pass, so get out there and start earning those stars.
