  1. It doesn’t really bother me at all when a game is delayed.

  2. I’ll admit, I get a twinge of disappointment. I understand why they do it, and I don’t begrudge them, but I also like to schedule my gaming; mainly due to recording/streaming reasons. I plan out which games I’ll play for me, on stream, or as a recorded let’s play well in advance, and delays tend to screw that up.

  3. I’m not disappointed anymore when a game gets delayed. If anything, I’m glad it gives me more time to maybe finish another game.

Although learning that delays often mean crunch gets extended and not relieved does make me feel bad about it. D:

  4. QotW: Because I am a mature, sensible person, I don’t get worked up about games being delayed. It means more time to get it right, hopefully (but probably not) less crunch for the developers, and above all I already have such a bulging backlog, I probably don’t need any games to come at all for the next couple of years.

However, because I am also a child inside, I want all of the games all of the time, and something inside me dies a little when a game I’m really looking forward to gets delayed.

  5. QotW: I’m ambivalent when a game is delayed. I have too much to play in my backlog already, and sometimes I’d rather wait for the game to drop in price before buying it.

Sometimes an excruciatingly long delay will make me forget that a game existed. I was a Kickstarter backer for Cosmic Star Heroine. That game was delayed for something like 3 years (!?) and I still haven’t gotten around to playing it.

RPGamer has been covering RPGs since 1998, with the current version of the site launched in 2018.
