‘Former Obama guy’ asks us to imagine a country that asks only two things, and one of them is not to prolong the pandemic

Former Obama guy and occasional New York Daily News columnist Brandon Friedman asks us to imagine a country where the government asks only two things: that you not own other people, and that you not prolong a deadly pandemic.

Imagine living in a uniquely powerful, united, free land of abundance and opportunity where the government asks only two things: You can’t own other people and you can’t deliberately prolong a deadly pandemic. And half the place is like, “nope, time for a national divorce.”

Which is it … united or free? It certainly is neither under President Biden.

“The government asks only two things.”

You really would have to imagine that because you’re describing a fantasy land. https://t.co/pKQXQh9ZhI

What is this fantasy world?

Ok 🤡

Not surprised you’re against people being owned considering how much it’s happening to you in the comments

Solid burn.

Okay and what does this fantasy land where the government asks only two things have to do with the USA?

If those are the only things the government asks then why do they keep taking money out of my paychecks https://t.co/kURAkNGTZs

Imagine being a grown man and “imagine tweeting.”

Imagine that tweet was a false choice. Imagine that you ignored just about everything else in the universe to cling to your silly world view.

Just imagine.

Dearest Agatha,

I hope this letter finds you well. Year 2 of this new great land. The government has added buying more than one can of deodorant in a 30 day period to the list of things which deliberately prolong pandemics. I find myself yearning for a whiff of your perfume https://t.co/WMr2EDHsPJ

If you favor the government taking away people’s ability to provide for their families with vaccine mandates, you’re not far from being okay with owning other people. https://t.co/HFwtXThhMp

This you?https://t.co/i8y05mIpfh

The government asks a lot more than that, crazy person who wants to sic the National Guard on civilians who refuse to bow to your political demands. https://t.co/o8rTCvAd3w

Ahhh yes, another Friedman over-simplified, pedestrian shit take.

Imagine living in a uniquely powerful, united, free land of abundance and opportunity where people are so scared of taking chances and living that they vote in a government to take care of their every need.

I’m not sure if you’re genuinely asking us to imagine that or if that’s the country you genuinely think we currently live in.

— Lighten up, Francis (@LightnUpFransis) October 27, 2021

Do you not pay taxes or obey any laws in your fantasy world?

— NC Optimist (@NC_Optimist) October 27, 2021

We live in such a place. On the owning people question, Democrats were eventually defeated, so no divorce. On the pandemic question, tbd.

— Kay KEELY (@KayKEELY) October 27, 2021

If you think 50% of the country wants a national divorce you need to get off twitter and go touch some grass. https://t.co/quQZNO5RQM

Not the stupidest tweet today, but close.
